The undisputed leader in the machining of oscillating weights for the watchmaking industry, Jura-based Décovi has developed a number of other skills that have forced it to expand in order to meet demand and grow its business.
With over 75 years’ experience, Décovi is constantly perfecting and modernizing its know-how in the fields of precision machining, bar turning and milling for the watchmaking, medtech and other high-tech industries.
For over 10 years, Décovi has been the benchmark for machining oscillating weights. Originally, the Vicques-based company was content with basic turning, milling and deburring operations. She then added decoration (colimaçonnage, côtes de Genève, soleillage, surface treatment, coloring, saving and pad printing), engraving (laser or mechanical), riveting and, more recently, ball-bearing assembly. A chain of skills and highly advanced automation now enable Décovi to offer a completely finished oscillating weight in accordance with the wishes of the most prestigious watch brands.
To keep pace with market demand in its various fields of expertise, Décovi had to expand. “We needed additional space for our machines,” explains Cédric Chèvre, CEO of Décovi. “We therefore acquired 2,000 m2 of floor space, in addition to our current 4,800 m2. It’s a whole extra floor at our current headquarters in Vicques, to accommodate a good part of our CNC machine park – some sixty units and around the same number of employees. This expansion also enables us to install a new cafeteria where our teams can meet up and have a good time.”
This extension is primarily a response to growth, which was confirmed in 2023 with a 20% increase in activity and an increase in the number of employees to 130.
In mid-April, the machines were successfully relocated within a very reasonable timeframe, avoiding any major disruption to the plant’s production capacity. The extension is now fully operational, enabling Décovi to optimize the oscillating weight production line to the great satisfaction of its customers.
An official inauguration ceremony for this Décovi extension will take place on June 20th in Vicques, in the presence of the region’s official authorities.
